Authenticity Guide

How to Check If Your Perfume Is Authentic

Authenticity is best reviewed as a complete picture. One detail alone rarely proves or disproves a fragrance. Packaging, bottle finish, original manufacturer presentation, batch details, barcode information, official security features and the manufacturer’s own guidance should be considered together.

Check the Complete Product, Not One Detail

Brands update packaging, labels, ingredients, bottles, caps and outer boxes between batches, regions and production runs. A difference from an older bottle, a social media comparison or a marketplace listing does not automatically mean a perfume is not genuine.

The stronger review looks at the product as supplied: outer carton, bottle, sprayer or applicator, cap, batch code, barcode, label quality, security features where present, scent condition and official brand verification route where one exists.

Step 1

Inspect the packaging

Check the box, print quality, spelling, labels, barcode area, batch-code area and any QR, seal or security sticker where supplied by the manufacturer. Keep the packaging until you are fully satisfied.

Step 2

Check brand security features

Some brands use QR codes, holograms, inner labels or security tags. These are useful, but not every genuine product carries the same feature across all products or batches.

Step 3

Use official sources

Where a manufacturer gives a public verification method, use that route directly. Avoid unofficial checker sites unless the brand itself tells customers to use them.

Packaging Notice

Not Every Genuine Product Has Cellophane, Seals or QR Codes

Some genuine fragrance products are not supplied by the manufacturer with cellophane, security seals, holograms or QR verification features. This can happen with certain gift sets, perfume oils, deodorants, home fragrance items, selected batches or market-specific packaging. Absence of cellophane, a seal or a QR code is not, by itself, proof that a product is not genuine.

Brand Routes

Brand-Specific Verification

Use the relevant brand page where there is a known public method, or use the photo and detail route where the brand has no public consumer scanner.

Performance

Longevity Is Not an Authenticity Test

Scent strength, projection and longevity can vary because of formulation, reformulation, storage, batch differences, application, skin chemistry, temperature, humidity and nose fatigue.

Two genuine bottles can feel different in use. Performance concerns should be reviewed separately from authenticity concerns.
